Begin where you are
Reaching out is usually the hardest part, so you’ve basically already started. Here’s what happens next.
Three gentle steps
Reach out
Send me a quick inquiry with a little note about what’s going on. I’ll get back to you within one business day to set up a free 15-minute phone call and see if we click. No pressure at all.
Your first session
Our first real session. We’ll talk about your story and how you want to feel. You’ll do the paperwork beforehand in a secure online portal.
Settling in
We meet weekly by secure video. If we’re doing EMDR, you’re already doing it: getting to know your story and building tools to feel steady are part of the process, not a waiting room.
Let’s talk about what you’re looking for.
Send me an inquiry and I’ll reach out within one business day to set up a free 15-minute phone call. You don’t need to have it all figured out. A few sentences is plenty.
Send an inquiryTo protect your privacy, please keep details about your history out of email and voicemail. We can talk about them by phone or in session.
Good to know
When do we actually start EMDR?
You’ve already started! EMDR has eight phases, and everything we do together is part of it: getting to know you and your story, building tools that help you feel steady, and figuring out what we want to work on. The processing part is just one piece. The groundwork is what makes that piece work, so none of it is a detour.
Do I have to talk about every detail of what happened?
Nope! That’s one of my favorite things about EMDR. You don’t have to describe the memory in detail for it to work. Share what feels okay, and we’ll go from there.
Do I need to have “real trauma” to try EMDR?
Not at all. If there’s something you understand logically but still can’t shake, like a belief about yourself, a relationship pattern, or a reaction that feels bigger than the moment, EMDR can help with that too.
What does an EMDR session feel like?
It’s a little different for everyone. You’ll think about a memory for a bit while we do the back-and-forth part, and things tend to shift. A new thought pops up, a feeling changes, or something just gets lighter. I check in a lot, and we always end with time to settle.
How does EMDR work over video?
Really well, and it’s how I do all of my sessions. We meet on a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. For the bilateral part, you can follow a soft dot as it glides back and forth across your screen, put on headphones and listen to tones that drift from one ear to the other, or tap gently on your own. You get to do it all from wherever you feel comfortable.
Do you take insurance?
I don’t take insurance. Osera is a private-pay practice, and we’ll go over fees on our free call so there are no surprises.
Where do sessions happen?
All sessions are virtual right now, so you can join from anywhere in Florida, whether you’re in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Orlando, or Jacksonville. You just need a private spot and a decent internet connection. In-person sessions may be an option down the road.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your history and goals. A single upsetting event may take a handful of sessions; complex or childhood trauma usually takes longer. We’ll check in on progress together along the way.
Do you work with teens?
Yes, I work with teens as well as adults. For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian will be part of getting started, and we’ll talk together about how privacy works so everyone feels comfortable.
I’ve tried therapy before and it felt like “just talking.” Will this be different?
I hear this a lot, and it’s a fair complaint. If a past therapist mostly repeated back what you said or told you things you already knew, I get why it felt pointless. I’m more active than that. I’ll share what I notice, ask real questions, connect dots with you, and bring in tools like EMDR that do more than talk.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes, with a few legal exceptions: an immediate risk of harm to you or someone else, or suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult. We’ll go over this at your first session.
What if EMDR isn’t right for me?
Totally fine. We can lean on the other approaches I use, or I’ll help you find someone who’s a better fit. My feelings won’t be hurt, promise.
